History
The EOC Story is about people. People with pride, devotion and innovation.
The company was founded in 1969 by Richard L. Sinclair, who had begun in the furniture industry working his way through college. He is President and Chief Executive Officer and active in the day to day affairs.
Mr. Sinclair has been on the Board of Directors of several associations, including the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (BIFMA). He is currently President of CIMA (Contract Interiors Marketing Association) who are launching the Intersect West forum and exhibit in Las Vegas February 2007.
The combined EOC upper management team totals more than 300 years of industry service and expertise. Most of the current executive staff has been working together for more than two decades. The group possesses diverse strengths which are reflected in the company's growth and industry recognition.
Facilities
The manufacturing facilities are located on fifteen acres of modern industrial property in the Los Angeles Business Park, halfway between downtown L. A. and the Harbor.
Here you can see state of the art woodworking and production techniques in action. This includes a wood veneer processing and laminating operation along with both flat stock, framing mills and conveyorized assembly lines. EOC carefully selects and controls the quality of its wood and finishes, which are ranked among the finest in the world.
Everything is manufactured at this vertically oriented multiplex, including upholstered furniture, tables, casegoods, panel systems and accessories.
Operations are departmentalized and computerized. A large inventory of component parts are kept on hand for production efficiency and faster turn around time. A broad selection of product is also inventoried for rush requirements.
STATEMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY AND PRACTICES / SUSTAINABILITY IS OUR MOTTO AND DAILY PRACTICE.
As a California resident manufacturer we support our Nation’s toughest and most active environmental state, and take pride in the advancements made to protect our earth. EOC performs more than lip service regarding operating a sustainable business. Simply stated, our policy and practice is to put more back than we take away.
It is a constant goal for which we continually seek better and more innovative solutions. Our search includes partnerships with a number of consultants and associations, which in some cases has changed the way we do business. Here are specific areas where we have taken a leadership role in being an environmentally responsible manufacturer:
- Toxic Emissions used in the manufacture of our products are amongst the lowest in the nation and in compliance with strict Southern California Air Quality Management District requirements.
- Drawer Interiors are finished with water based materials. This prevents the occupant from inhaling harmful toxics from the desk’s inner chambers each time a drawer is opened.
- Packaging: Our products are shipped via blanket wrapped carriers (unless otherwise specified) to avoid the disposal of paper and plastic packaging materials.
- Sound Forest Management is very important to us. We partner only with sources that document their replenishment practices, including planting more trees than they take.
- Reconstituted Veneers are avoided because of their high formaldehyde and African rain forest content. Wood Waste is ground into mulch and composted to become top soil or burned as fuel for electricity. Dimensional wood scrap is made into pallets.

- Sawdust and wood chips are collected through our overhead vacuum duct system and used for animal bedding.
- Scrap Foam is picked up and recycled by our foam suppliers.
- Scrap Leather is given to a local organization to make wallets and purses.
- Scrap Cardboard is sold to a recycling center adjacent to our property.
Sustainability is our constant goal. We take pride in our efforts here and welcome your comments and contributions.
